Mark Garcia, MA
is a teacher for Long Beach Unified School District. He graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Arts in English and graduated CSU Long Beach with a Masters of Science in Special Education and a Clear Credential. Since 1998 he has worked in the field of Special Education. His roles have included being Lead Teacher, Moderate/ Severe special day class teacher, English Language Development Teacher and CHASEE Lab Instructor (teaching math to people with disabilities).
He is a member of Rosewood Church and has served as a Junior High Counselor and a Deacon. In his role as a Junior High Counselor he was responsible for helping the kids develop integrity and character. As a deacon he was responsible for providing financial guidance to the members of Rosewood and the community. He has an affinity for working with people in the community and as served as a math tutor for Kingdom Causes. He is married and has three young children.
Dr. Jacques P. Molyneux
was born and raised in Downey, CA. This year he and his wife, Shelly, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have two boys: Jean Paul, 20 years old, and a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Cameron, 17 years old, and a senior in high school. He is currently the Senior Pastor at Neighborhood Christian Fellowship and a partner in an internet construction loan company. His connection to Bellflower comes through being raised in the neighboring town of Downey where he developed friendships with Bellflower residents through church life, school, and sports and being the pastor of a Bellflower church. Over the past 1½ years, he has invested much time and resources for the community. Dr. Molyneux has Bachelor of Science in Business Adminstration from University of Southern California and a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from Talbot School of Theology, BIOLA University.
Rachel VerWys, MSW
is a Bellflower neighbor, non-profit consultant, grant writer, and board member of the Community First Association. She received her Bachelors of Social Work from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. Her studies focused on Community Organizing, Planning and Administration. She has worked in the Community Development field around Los Angeles since 2000 directing community development organizations. Internships and volunteer work have placed her in urban schools in St. Louis, Grand Rapids, Chicago and Los Angeles. Her graduate internship placed her with Synergy Works a consultant to urban Los Angeles charter schools. She and her husband, Ryan, have worked with Kingdom Causes Bellflower to inspire, connect, and mobilize people for the city’s transformation. Rachel, Ryan and their three young sons are the fifth generation to live in their Bellflower neighborhood.
